A busy seaside city, a popular destination with beautiful beaches and the pier

The Getty Centre is well-known for architecture, gardens and views over Los Angeles from its hilltop location. From the lower parking area, what appears to be a monorail takes visitors to the main entrance above. This is actually a 3-car elevator running silently on cables up the mountain.

On to the Getty Villa, a few miles away in Pacific Palisades. This facility is filled with antiquities dating back to 6,500 BC.

A day’s travel took us to the Los Angeles area. From our base in Santa Monica, we explored Beverly Hills and Hollywood.
